Deadlines are looming. Clients are submitting changes. QA is submitting bugs and nothing seems to be working as you expected. Then you realize that someone else actually has to maintain this mess if it ever gets delivered.

Many brilliant programmers have invested years looking for solutions to this problem and I'd like to share what some of them have found.
