Flash in Advertising

New York, NY – June 9, 2006

Advertising on the web has been a growing trend with seemingly unlimited potential. More and more sites are employing Adobe Flash® graphics and video in their advertising, for its robust animation, interactivity, and streaming video capabilities. In addition to the obvious uses of Flash in web advertising, growing numbers of creatives are leveraging Flash animation for television advertising. In doing so, they’re saving their clients hundreds of thousands of dollars and designing for a generation raised on the look and feel of the Net.

As advertising professionals, we all love those crazy animated bits we find on the web. But today, more and more agencies are using Adobe’s Flash to develop and produce commercials for television. Although it is not actual video or film, the richness of animation delivers an impact similar to the six-figure budgets required for traditional productions, at greatly reduced expense. Flash lends itself particularly well to MTV-style animation and to fast-moving silhouettes. Best of all, it has a look and feel that a younger audience raised on the Internet more readily associates with.

Todd Sanders is the owner of 086studio – an innovative advertising agency that produces Flash-based commercials and programming for television. “We work with a wide range of pharmaceutical clients, producing everything from television commercials to in-house productions. For these clients, it works. And we can deliver a completed production for perhaps 20% of what it would cost to do in film.”

Todd Sanders, and numerous other Flash specialists, will be teaching sessions and workshops at the 16th Flashforward Conference and Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Drawing an international audience from the US, Europe, and Asia, the Flashforward Conference and Film Festival serves as a place for creative professionals, from Creative and Art Directors to Flash designers, developers, videographers, and artists, to learn the newest trends and techniques related to pushing this new medium for their clients and their agencies.

Flash is a trend that is growing well beyond the web....and agencies are catching on quickly.
